Sello Maake kaNcube, the legendary screen and theatre actor, has announced the loss of his mother, Virginia Maake, who died on July 1, 2021.
Covid-19 claimed the life of Maake kaNcube’s mother. The 61-year-old actor is most known for his performances as Archie Moroka in soap operas such as SABC 1’s ‘Generations,’ and as Kgosi, Harriet Khoza’s gay brother in DSTV’s ‘The Queen.’ He has also appeared in theatre plays such as William Shakespeare’s play Othello and Can Themba’s short tale The Suit.
The Maake family issued a message on social media, requesting that the public refrain from attending the private family burial to guarantee everyone’s safety.

‘We appreciate your support so far, and please note that owing to Covid-19’s constraints on our efforts to keep everyone safe, we will be holding a family-only ceremony. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated.’
