Pearl Modiadie on how women are ridiculed everyday.

The new mom took to Social media to say, “You are ridiculed for not having a child.” When you’re ready, you have one, and then you’re chastised for not wanting siblings for your child.”

Pearl also asked her fans if it’s lonely being the only child at home in another tweet.

“As an only child, do you feel lonely since your parents didn’t have additional children/siblings for you?” she tweeted.

Some women took to share their experience of how they are treated by their relatives and society, under her post.

A woman by the name of Pretty Mogano shared: “Am 31 and don’t have a child, if you can hear the shame from my relatives ijooo it’s unbearable, one of my cousin sister told me to my face that I should just find any guy to impregnate me since am working and to them it’s like am struggling on finding a stable partner..

You get shame even when it’s 2 kids from the same father and you’re now broken up. They say you should just raise them and not date. My mother 3 weeks back even said “if any man would asking for a hand in marriage with me, I should know I am doomed to marry for a divorce

I’m 38years old my daughter is 13years old there are times where I noticed that she’s lonely one day she ask me if I could atleast a second one I told her that it was not easy being alone supporting her until she grows into teenager and I told her that I am not married

Am 35yrs with a 16yrs old n no plans for another,am shamed for not having another.I was shamed for having her at 18,it moved to to having a child out of wedlock, now its not having another.

Eish my sister is not even attending family events funerals even walking on the streets it’s a struggle for her and it pains me so much to see people stealing her happiness and they are not even aware. This are kinds of things that make people to commit suicide.”

Fell pregnant at 23, people were like “eh kgante okgonoira ngwana? Nerere maybe o nyomba” that time I’m being told by people who had kids during their teenage yrs, & even them they’re being judged for doing so. I thnk it’s just an eye for an eye, they got judged so they judge too

“It never ends, I have 1 boy and 2 girls and am asked when am I having another boy(like a 12 year old boy would play with a new born

) ,I have friends with just boys being asked “Dont you wany a girl”, I have learned to just nod and smile while doing me.”

Mina I just felt sorry for my daughter being the only child. When we go home in KZN or in Limpopo you would see how happy she is because she gets to play with other kids something she only gets at crèche when she’s here in Jhb. She is getting a baby sister
