The dimani villagers are searching for a man who was eaten by a crocodile
the story happened like this:
It was on tuesday 22 February 2022 when Masia Joseph went to the river to catch fish. He went to luvuvhu river with his fishing net, when he arrived to the river he set up his fishing net to the spot where he knew he will catch the fish in large scale.
After setting up the fishing net he went back home. Few hours later he and his son (Masia Zwivhuya) went back to the river to see if the were any fishes caught inside the net. When he arrived at the river he saw the net shacking which indicated that something was inside the net.
Instead of pulling out the net he jumped inside the water, due to excitement, thinking that he caught a large number of fish. However, Masia Joseph did not know that he would be jumping to his death, when he was caught by a large crocodile which was underneath the net. Joseph tried to escape but the crocodile pulled him upwards surely eating him.
When his son saw what was happening , in shock, the young stood there in shock, trying to see what was truly happening to his father, when he realised that his father was no longer getting out of the water alive, he ran away crying for help.
The villagers went to the river to rescue joseph but he was no where to be found. His family called the coast guard rescue team and police so that they could search for his body inside the water, till now they have not found anything.
While the rescue team were inside the water, one of the villagers(Simon Munyai) was standing in the nearest edge of a river trying to look for Joseph, without realising that something bad will happen to him on that day, suddenly the same crocodile pulled his leg and dragged his body into the water, also leading to his death. He shouted “help, help” while the crocodile was pulling him inside, but people who were standing next to him shouted in fear and no one helped him out of fear, some ran away.
Some of Simon Munyai’s body parts were found the next day in the morning but unfortunately he was already dead and he had one leg meaning that the crocodile ate the other leg.
The police and coast guard rescue team are still looking for joseph even today. Some of the villagers stand by the river everyday to see if the crocodile will bring out his dead body.
The villagers collected R9000 which they paid the traditional healer(sangoma) so that he could help them in finding joseph.
